Since it has recently been World Humanitarian Day (August 19th) i took the time to dwell on what i have done to end world hunger. Thinking about i haven't done as much as i personally feel i could do, i don't always put money in the charity collection pots on the counters of shops when really i can.
I do want to be part of the reason we end world hunger, and find a cure for HIV/AIDs and Cancer so i was thinking if i want to be part of that group then i need to do something to be part of that group.
How is it possible that there are still several people in the world who don't have access to clean food and water, who don't have the facilities to go to shop down the road because they have run out of milk?
I did a bit more thinking, (i was in a thinking mood) and i thought although they don't have everything we have they do have one thing. A sense of community and family, they appreciate what they do have. Some of us may live in a good community but not all of us, you can't buy that stuff; you can't buy a loving, friendly community, something not all of us have.
We, YOU! could be the reason to end World Hunger and find a cure for HIV/AIDs and Cancer. We could literally be a few more tests away from finding a cure to HIV/AIDs and Cancer, but we may not have the resources to do so and by me and you putting just a bit of change in the pots we could be the reason why a cure is found. Coming from someone who has lost a family member from Cancer, it's painful to know that a cure is out there somewhere we just haven't found it. So do take the time to think about it
However, World Humanitarian Day is so much more than that. It is to commemorate those who lost their lives taking action and helping others, it's incredibly saddening to know that people are losing their lives doing good for others. I truly respect the work of those much appreciated people, and my love goes out to their families.
I've taken the time, and will continue to take more time to make sure that i do something to help someone else, because there are so many more troubles going on in the world besides mine.
